About Us
Hello friends! My name is Emily, and mud is what I love most. I've been a potter of sorts since I was eleven years old when my mother signed me up for a class in hand-building and sculpture. I fell in love the moment I squished a bit of clay between my fingers. In the last fifteen years since that first class, my style has changed considerably from fun, childhood art projects to functional wares for the home.
I have a home studio in my small town of Maryville, TN. I was born and raised in Maryville, and take joy in being able to provide something unique to my community.
I have a love for bright colors and anything and everything botanical. My first cohesive line of work, consisted of a bright streak of color with an etching of a flower. The Floral line has since been discontinued, but it helped me grow as production potter and artist. I now focus on modern dishes, going back to my roots slightly by using very bright and colorful glazes, which are mixed in-house.
My goal with Em.Burge Pottery is to provide heirloom quality pieces of functional art, that will pass down through the generations. I want to bring a smile to someone's face when they're drinking their morning coffee out of their signature Em.Burge Pottery mug, which at some point, may have belonged to a loved family member.
